Dear BTS Family,
We are about to embark upon our journey into another amazing year at Break the Silence against Domestic Violence. As a fellow survivor, I am honored that I can be part of this family and I am truly humbled to be able to lead such an astounding organization toward our goals to help change the world.
Over the past seven years, our volunteer-run organization has reached thousands of people on a national level by educating about healthy relationships, spreading awareness about domestic violence, and leading preventative programs for victims and survivors. The majority of our volunteers are survivors who have left their domestic violence situations and have decided to dedicate their time and love to help our cause. In return, they have allowed themselves to grow and thrive in their own journey of healing by working on our amazing fundraising and scholarship campaigns, planning our survivor retreats, or taking a shift on our seven day survivor-run helpline. We could not be where we are today without our amazing volunteers.
As we are coming into a new year, we have a lot to look forward to as an organization. We are currently at a record-high in clients served through our programs. We expect to see an increase in the coming months, due to a recent spike in growth through our social media platforms. Our BTS family and support networks continue to grow daily with our strong social media presence and empowered survivor sisters and brothers. This year, we granted $8,000 in financial assistance to graduates of our National Grants of Hope Financial Empowerment Program. These resilient survivors completed a rigorous 16-week virtual financial literacy training hosted by advocates and industry professionals. We are also proud of our National Memorial (Angel) Scholarship Program where we awarded a record-setting $15,000 in scholarships to students impacted by domestic violence. In the past three years, we have awarded a total of over $25,000 in scholarships.
Our goals for 2018 will continue to align with our mission to educate, form connections, and assist in transforming men and women affected by domestic violence. We will continue to provide guidance through our hosted retreats, financial support through our scholarship programs, and valuable experience through our volunteering opportunities all over the U.S.
Our love at BTS spreads, expands, and burrows into all the hearts and souls of victims and survivors around the world. BTS is an organization unlike any other because it allows victims and survivors to educate themselves, to grow, to shine, and to THRIVE. We provide a safe place to come break your silence, hold hands with your fellow sisters and brothers, and move forward in your healing journey. BTS has been blessed with the opportunity to help so many people face their deepest, darkest fears and watch them blossom and bloom into becoming their own heros. The sisterhood and brotherhood of BTS provides victims and survivors with the honor of being able to stand beside one another and make light of all of their darkness.
So please, take my hand, and walk beside me into the this next year at BTS. Together, we can conquer the world, break our silence, and bring an end to domestic violence.
